Fellow Goosebumps fans, raise ya hands! I always read the Goosebumps books as a kid. Honestly, I still read them sometimes. Oops, guess that's not a secret anymore. Oh well. Anyways, "Revenge of the Lawn Gnomes" is one of my favorite of the stories. It's about these lawn gnomes that come to life at night and cause mischief. It always creeped me out. That's why I had to chuckle when I saw this news story. It's like Goosebumps come to life! It's probably just a small person playing a prank, but even so, it's still pretty creepy. Be sure to check out the video too.

Tasering of a disruptive store customer
Posted on: December 22, 2007 at 5:32 pm (6 months, 2 weeks ago)

I have just heard of this incident where a store customer was tasered after a verbal argument with a police officer. The officer approached the woman with the assumption that she was using a stolen credit card. The card turned out to be her own, but frustrated and angry over the situation (as well as a phone call she received prior), she started yelling at the officer. According to the article, she was disrupting business and would not obey the officer's commands.

Policeman use their power to their advantage, and I believe that this one took it too far. I am not defending the woman. Even if she was upset, she really should have obeyed the officer. There was no need for her to lash out the way she did. However, what gave that policeman the right to taser her? He could have just arrested her himself or called another policeman in. I don't understand why he felt the need to taser her. The woman never put a hand on the cop, thus leaving him in no physical danger.

The electrical jolt within a taser is generally enough to knock a person over and put them in a great amount of pain. Shocks from the taser have even caused a number of deaths. Although the woman was getting out of control, I believe the taser is too powerful to have been used for her verbal actions. Tasering should be saved for the real criminals.
