Hmm maybe do the skip thing sooner rather than later and it will throw your cycle off and it will miss the beach, but by then you'll be regular again and not have to worry about it.

If I get my period at a time I really don't want to get it, I either stop with the pill earlier, so that I get my period BEFORE the event or I'll just take another pack of the pill and, like you said, skip a month. I've read somewhere that it's better to, if you move your period to the back, skip your period rather than taking the pill for about 4 days longer, and then getting your period.

I'm the same way with tampons, I wear the super plus ones and I still have to change them like every 2 hours. But it's usually only for the first couple days.

As a med student (not saying it to show off, but just to assure you I know what I'm talking about), I can assure you it's no big deal at all to skip your period like that! You don't risk anything and your period won't be worse the next time! I do it twice or three times a year, cause it's sometimes really handy…

Skip your period! I always skip the sugar pills and go to the next pack- every single time. My doctor said it was fine, even doing it every single time. Those doctors that tell you it's not safe to do often are old-fashioned and it's not true. And I don't think you'll get a bad one after skipping one.

@Hannah: It's not dangerous at all to skip your period most of the time, but I wouldn't do it every single time though. Your uterus needs to replace the endometrium ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endometrium ) a few times a year at least…

I've never done it, but I know girls who have and they say it's fine to do. You're protected by the pills, and you should have nothing to worry about. Be prepared for a possibly heavy one next month though.

And Tampons are the same for me. I can wear one for a bit and then I have to paranoid check, haha. Fun being a girl, eh?

I hate tampons. =( I get paranoid when I have my period while I'm at the beach. I get really hesitant to go in the wate because of that whole 'sharks like blood' sort of thing. >_O

The bikini is super cute! Maybe you should try a larger tampon. It hurts at first if you aren't use to it, but it can provide a lot more leakage protection.

i used to just keep taking birth control and skip the sugar pills when i had to go to my cottage or something, and nothing ever happened to me.
my boyfriend & i are going camping in the summer and i'm planning the whole thing around NOT being on my period, when we go ..haha.

I have never altered a birth control prescription in order to skip a period, so I don't have any recommendations for you. I really don't know if it would cause a heavier period the next time around or not. It might, from what I've read others gripe about. But it also depends on your body, and how heavy your periods are to begin with.

I don't know about the tablets that you are taking, but the ones I am on I have been able to do that on holiday before. My period always seems to come when I am away, always at the wrong time. If you aren't sure then I would speak to my doctor.

I know people who've tried the whole "skip a period thing" and in some cases it jsut made it worse!

Well, I skip my period often when I'll be travelling somewhere, it's warm or I just don't feel like having it. I haven't had any problems by doing so, and I've been doing it quite some time now.

My period hasn't got heavier the next time after skipping it, nothing really indicates it will, but I'm not an expert. When you're on the pill, your period is sort of an artificial one, caused by the hormones on the pills, not by your body itself, so, I wouldn't worry about having a heavier period next time.
All in all, it depends on how your body reacts. Good luck!
