It's my life. Don't you forget.
Posted on: May 11, 2008 at 8:47 pm (3 months, 4 weeks ago)

This is going to be a bulleted list of some things that are happening and on my mind at the moment.

▪ My Grandma is up from Florida. She comes up once a year. I had to give up my bed, which means sleeping with my mom. It wouldn't be so bad if my mom didn't snore and her bed wasn't as hard as a rock, but I suppose I will deal.

▪ Yes, I am 19 and live at home. I don't see the big deal. I work full-time, pay towards rent, and pay for my groceries. I can't afford to move out at the moment, nor do I want to. No need to rush and deal with more bills than I already have right now. I have my whole life for that. My dad lived with his dad up until his dad passed away a couple years ago. He did live on his own for a while, but things happened. It doesn't make either of us any less of a person. Prices are so high these days.

▪ Aside from the blog awards I previously posted (which I wasn't upset about. I just wanted to know who sent them), I have received some more awards including the following: kitten friendly blog award, a dead cockroach, a flesh eating rash, the sexy blogger award (x2), the addicting blog award, and the this blog just rules award. Thanks ya'll.

▪ They need to bring the cotton candy blizzards at DQ back. I wanted one, but I had to settle for a Reese's one instead.

▪ Weekends aren't nearly long enough.

Haha those awards are pretty awesome..I think they're cute! Good to know your blog is suitable for kittens! :P
I know, I don't see what the big deal is about still living at home either! I'll be 21 later this year and I still live with my parents too. :)

Aidee - 05.11.08 @ 9:40 pm (3 months, 4 weeks ago)

Aww, I'm sorry about that, Britney.

J - 05.11.08 @ 10:35 pm (3 months, 4 weeks ago)

LOL I would sleep on the couch. I've slept in a bed with my mom and she wakes up at everything plus snores. No bueno.

I've been into apartments and back with my parents and moved out again. I must admit, I could not stand to live at home. If your mom struggles with rent it's nice that you help, but otherwise I think it's crap when teens have to pay rent to live at home, even if they are over 18. My boyfriend's dad wanted us to pay rent, so we stayed at my parents' place for a bit and then moved out. No way could we pay rent at one place while saving to move to another.

I say be happy that you get any awards and attention. Bad publicity is better than no publicity!

Laur - 05.11.08 @ 10:56 pm (3 months, 4 weeks ago)

Um, I'm 19 and there's no way I could afford to live on my own. That's not unusual. I'm not completely dependent upon my parents for everything, obviously, and I don't expect them to just pay for whatever I want, but how do people ever expect for you to BECOME fully independent if you're just suddenly thrown on your own one day? You need that transitioning time. That's why my parents are supporting me while I'm in college. You may be at home rather than in a college dorm, but the same reasoning applies. While you're growing up and working, they're helping you out. It's not like at 18 your parents should just stop caring and not do ANYTHING for you anymore.

As for the stupid awards, take them as a compliment. You know you're popular when you've got haterz~* who can't even show their faces!

There is no point to hurry up and move out, I don't think. I mean, if you have a job and all, and you pay for most, or all, of your stuff, I think that's fine. You're doing your part. I'm 20 and still live at home… I've been thinking about moving out in a year because the commute to school is too far. But whatever, moving out isn't exactly at the top of my priorities. Basically, what I'm saying is, who cares if you live at home at 19 years old? I have an aunt (who is married with 4 kids) and she is 35 and lives at home still! Now THAT is crazy. (I laugh at her cause she also has no education whatsoever. lol)

Nellie - 05.11.08 @ 11:46 pm (3 months, 4 weeks ago)

I think you understood that the first part of my blog was not about you, but I'll say it again, just in case. I think it's perfectly fine for a 19 year old with a full-time job and who is paying their way to still be living at home. I'd be a big ol' hypocrite if I didn't think it was fine.

It's the 19 year olds (or rather anyone over 18) who just sit around the house all day and have everything paid for them by their parents without a good reason as to why they don't have a job or are at school.

I'm sorry about the comment that I think may have lead to the addition of the bullet point about this. I don't echo those sentiments and I certainly don't look down on you for still living at home.

I like living with my parents and I like it that way too. It's expensive to move out and my mom is my best friend. I'd be lost without her, besides, she's my best support system for my fiance being gone right now. I don't pay rent or groceries but I do work and pay for all my little extras myself and help out in different ways. It's circumstantial really why people do what they do and its whatever works for them. My sister didn't move out until like 2 years ago and she's now 30. No biggy.

Amanda - 05.12.08 @ 1:07 am (3 months, 4 weeks ago)

*and i like it that way too. Sorry, worked night shift last night and I'm all out of that.
I mean I like living with my parents and they're fine with that too.

Maggie - 05.12.08 @ 2:02 am (3 months, 4 weeks ago)

I'm still welcome and have a room at my mum's house.

Currently, I'm living in the city which is close to uni…. I'm not that keen to get up at the crack of dawn to get to the city for uni -__- lol

I don't see anything wrong with it.. then again I'm not all to concerned with much or anything that doesn't really bother me and quite honestly don't really care what other people do until it affects me.. heh.. (does that make me self-absorbed..?)

Helga - 05.12.08 @ 4:26 am (3 months, 4 weeks ago)

I'm turning 23 and I moved in (not BACK in) with my folks 2 months ago. I must say…it's…odd. And actually makes me feel…bad. Ive been living away from my folks since I was 16 and became financially-independent when I was 20. Im working towards moving out this month/next month *crosses fingers*

But thats just me. In Filipino culture, it's a norm for one to be 33, married with kids, and still live with your folks harhar.

Enzo - 05.12.08 @ 5:05 am (3 months, 4 weeks ago)

I don't see the big deal of living with your parents. Unless you have a family of your own, then, living with your folks is fine with me (as long as you don't make moaning sounds at night  ).

Cecilie - 05.12.08 @ 11:56 am (3 months, 4 weeks ago)

I don't see any problems with living at home either. If you can get along with everyone at home and think it is ok living there than good for you:) I'm moving out because I'm sick and tired of my parents always being around me.

Regina - 05.12.08 @ 4:05 pm (3 months, 4 weeks ago)

Haha, I actually like hard beds better. My friends always complain that my bed is like a pile of bricks, but they're apparently supposed to be better for your back. :P

I agree completely that weekends aren't long enough!

Amy - 05.12.08 @ 8:24 pm (3 months, 3 weeks ago)

I'm 22 and still live at home, so I don't really see an issue with it. After college I got in so much debt, so can't afford to move out! It's good that you're contributing at home :)

Shannon - 05.13.08 @ 12:31 am (3 months, 3 weeks ago)

Since my mother passed, my sisters have been living at home with me. They aren't nearly as responsible as you are, though. I'm more than sure that whatever you're contributing to around the house helps your mom out in ways you could never imagine.

I swear, my weekends go by so quickly. The weekdays just drag on for me. However, it seems like yesterday that 2008 was approaching and now it's May.

Amy - 05.13.08 @ 8:03 am (3 months, 3 weeks ago)

living with your parents isn't a bad thing as long as one realizes that their parents are human beings and deserve respect. It's important to understand that they can't carry their children on their backs for the rest of their lives. You seem to really be a responsible and respectable young adult who understands this concept. Good for you! Paying rent and buying your own groceries may not sound like much of a contribution to some people. But speaking as a daughter who sees her parents overwhelmed and broke because their two youngest (21 and 22) won't leave the nest and wont contribute to the expenses, makes me want to tell you that paying rent and buying your own groceries is a world of help and I'm sure your parents appreciate it. :)

Ellie - 05.13.08 @ 12:21 pm (3 months, 3 weeks ago)

I now want a blizzard, thanks. The Reese's one is good…but the peanut butter cups one, not the Reese's pieces one.

Christine - 05.13.08 @ 7:32 pm (3 months, 3 weeks ago)

I see nothing wrong with living home. I'm 21 and I still live with my parents but I'd rather do that than live in a dorm. Keith and I are nowhere near financially stable enough and I'd personally rather NOT eat Ramen every night, haha.

Cotton Candy blizzard? That sounds so sweet and delicious!

Jenn - 05.14.08 @ 1:23 am (3 months, 3 weeks ago)

It makes perfect sense to live at home, especially in the current times. Prices for everything from gas to food to rent are sky high… why take them on if there's really no need to?

And those blog awards are nuts. Don't you just love people who hide behind the computer screen and resort to anonymity?

Candygirl - 05.14.08 @ 2:17 am (3 months, 3 weeks ago)

I'm now just looking for a job so I can get my own home but you are right, everything's high priced nowadays =/
I don't think there's anything wrong with living with your parents.
You received some nice awards.

Ranee - 05.14.08 @ 8:13 am (3 months, 3 weeks ago)

If gas prices get any higher I'm going to have to move back home! Really, I don't fault you at all, you are only 19!!!!

I wanted to try one of those cotton candy blizzards. I'm not a blizzard fan, but that one looked good.

Kelly - 05.17.08 @ 3:06 am (3 months, 3 weeks ago)

you are so right…
Weekends are never long enough….
Congrats on all these awards!! you totally deserved them… (the cockroach puzles me but meh… lol)

As for living withyour parents, don't wrry about it. I am living with them too because I cannot afford to move out but thankfully from June to October they live to our summer house so am left completely alone :)
