Let you? I understand making sure that you're having mutual agreements to things, but when it comes to your body, I don't see how he has any right to "let you" or forbid you to do anything. If it's something you really want, I'd stand your ground - he's your boyfriend; your equal, not your keeper.

Anyway, the hair sounds really pretty and if done right, the red can look very nice.

Hmmm… This is really none of my business, but I do say this out of genuine concern. If you haven't resolved how to compromise with this guy about things like this, and it frustrates you to the point of needing to vent on your blog (which is a pretty public place), are you sure it's a good idea to be sleeping with him? I'm personally all about waiting until one is married, but beyond that, It seems like the relationship should be solid enought to work out things like this… Sex isn't zero risk, no matter what precautions you take.

I don't see anything wrong w/ body piercings as long as they're well taken care of. I personally don't like piercings on myself; it looks painful. But like the others said, it's really your choice what to do with your body and not his choice. =(

I guess four of my friends are freaks since they have dyed red hair. But they're not that bad, in fact I believe two of them don't even shop at Hot Topic.

That would make me crazy OMG. I know a lot of people who feel that way though. A girl at my high school told some of our friends she wouldn't be seen with me if I dyed my hair pink during the school year back in the day. I mean, I see how over the top piercings and dyed hair can look trashy, but done right I think it can look pretty.

OMG girl… LET YOU? What you do with your body is your business. He doesn't own you. And if he loves you at all he should respect what it is that makes you you. And that includes your desires for piercings and any type of hair color you want.

If my man ever tried to compromise who I am by telling me what I can and cannot pierce or wear or style in my hair, he'd be in for one hell of a surprise. Cause I would not stand for it. And you shouldn't either.

And if you're thinking in your head right now "But what if I go ahead and pierce my labret and he leaves me??" Then it might be a good idea for you to re-evaluate this relationship cause if he were to leave you for something like that then maybe he wasn't right for you to begin with.

And if he loves you like you say he does then where's the worry?? Pierce your labret, get your hair done! BE YOU. If he loves you, he loves you. True love is unconditional.

The vertical labret can break the seal between your lower lip and your glass when you drink, causing you to dribble until you re-learn how to drink. (The standard labret isn't any better since it has the potential to leak, and also can damage your teeth and gums by rubbing against them.) I wouldn't get one myself because of the hassle, but what makes you want one?

Do you know why Wesley doesn't want you to get the piercing? I think pieces of metal could only tarnish your natural beauty, but maybe he just doesn't want to kiss it (or maybe he is a jealous insecure control freak). Is the control mutual? If he wanted a tattoo you didn't like, do have veto power or is it all one sided?

Well, while I think it is important that my friends (or family members or boyfriend) tell me if they don't agree with something I do (or am planning to do), I don't think I would be particulary happy with them saying that I CAN'T do something.
I can't really understand how something that simple as having your hair done has to be 'allowed' to you.

Ah… boys, boys, boys. So typical of the bigger male. Todd is like that in a lot of ways. However, I don't let ANY man control me (it is the other way around ha ha. I got that boy whipped). Anyway, my lover is like with my money and things that are best for my interest. Sometimes, I joke around and say I'm going to shave my hair off and his eyes get so wide he he. I can understand WHY Wesley can be that way, but it still doesn't make it right if he is preventing you form doing it.

Did you ask him why? Did he give you a reason (in reference to the piercing). I think you should do whatever you please, it's your body and it should not be under no one else's control but yours. If it'll make you happy, then I'd say go for it. As long as it's not hurting him (which it shouldn't and won't) then you're good.

eric used to be really bad like that. he still is about certain things but usually he's right and ends up acting as my governor. sometimes i don't think things all the way through and i think they'd be cool… but i run them by him and he makes me think about it more. he's very particular about my hair. i used to have really long hair and he loved it. i recently (while we were broken up) cut it off into a pretty short a-line cut and i was actually really happy with it. it's since grown out a bit and it's getting time for another hair cut but he won't let me get it cut short again. he said it was cute short, but he prefers it longer… and in all reality, he's right. i miss my long hair so bad. lol.

I think you would look very original with that look. I also don't think he is close minded, he probably only has other tastes, or he saw some ugly chicks with red hair in a few pictures and he imagined you like those. Maybe he will like the way you look with caramel and red hair, after he will see you.

The fact that he said he would "let you" dye your hair makes my skin crawl. You aren't a 5 year old? Who the fuck is he to say anything about personal choices YOU make? five hours of talking? fuck that.

I don't think it's right for him to boss you around, or force you into not doing something, but I do agree that you shouldn't get that piercing. It just looks painful, and what if when you get older you don't want it and you take it out, I mean, there will still be a mark right there under your lip… and that's scary!

Ahh, yes, we can be that way. Sometimes you have to ignore us though and just do what you want to do. I can be that way. My girlfriend will ask my opinion on getting her done a certain way or something, and I'll disagree and say no. She'll do it anyway, and I just end up getting over it and than realizing that I should've never said "no" in the first place.

I can kinda understand why Wesley doesn't want you to get a piercing, because then wouldn't kissing being weird? I dunno, but I'm guessing it would take a bit of getting used to

Piercings and hair are always a fun thing to do lol. I'm not all pierced up but I want to get more done. I've got my eyebrow and my tongue and 4gs on my lobes. He shouldn't trip about what you want to do that he won't like. Sometimes you have to deal with things you know? But at least you guys came up with a mutual decision.

Ugh, sometimes people need to just not be so forceful about their opinions. My older sister had a facial piercing which everyone in our family freaked out about. But as she said, a piercing is temporary. It can be removed at any time, no harm done. Maybe a tiny scar. So they should just back off and let her live a little. And no one really cares anymore, not even our grandparents. In fact, I think our grandma thinks it's pretty cute.

And hair color is temporary too. Hair grows, it can be recolored. Experiment if you want! I bet those colors are going to look HOT on you!!

I can't wait to see your hair. Did you tell him that he can get matching red streaks too, lol.
